New Americans Project | City Heights Library

In partnership with City Heights Library in San Diego, CA, this program aimed to engage participants in conversation and image creation surrounding self, home, and culture. All participants were residents of City Heights, arguably the most diverse neighborhood in San Diego with over 30 languages spoken. All participants have been impacted by displacement and/or immigration either personally or within their family. Workshops looked at use of design elements in imagery such as color, shape, and pattern. Participants also were encouraged to think about intention and metaphor in their process. Images created resulted in an exhibition and photo book.
